You run a park on Yas Island, a family entertainment centre inside an Abu Dhabi mall, or a festival ground at Al Wathba, and you need a third party amusement ride inspection before a date that will not move: an opening, a new season, a renewal, or a question from the landlord or the authority that holds your approval. The manufacturer’s certificate is not enough, because the manufacturer has a stake in the sale. Your maintenance team’s sign-off is not enough, because they have a stake in the schedule. You need an independent, EIAC accredited examiner who comes to your site in Abu Dhabi and leaves you with a report the people asking will accept.
Certis is an independent inspection body based in Dubai Investment Park, on the Abu Dhabi side of Dubai, and much of our fieldwork takes place in the Abu Dhabi emirate. Our engineers travel to the site, wherever it is in the emirate: a destination park or arena on Yas Island, a leisure asset on Saadiyat, an adventure park in Al Ain, a family entertainment centre inside one of the capital’s shopping malls, or the seasonal festival grounds at Al Wathba, where a full fairground midway is assembled, examined and opened in a matter of weeks.
We do not keep an office in Abu Dhabi, and we say so. What we keep is the habit of being there: documentation reviewed before we drive down, the visit planned around your operating hours, and findings delivered while there is still time to fix them before the date. The certificate you receive is issued by an EIAC accredited inspection body working to ISO/IEC 17020 and an IAAPA member: the same engineers who examine rides across the UAE, including our amusement ride inspection work in Dubai and the northern emirates.
The engagement follows the same five steps whether the site is a single coaster or thirty temporary devices on a festival ground.
Rides in Abu Dhabi are examined to the standard they were built to: EN 13814 and ISO 17842 for most European-built devices, ASTM F24 for American-built ones, with ASTM F2291 read as the design standard when the manufacturer’s file refers to it. We tell you the timeline at scoping, based on the number of devices and the state of the file, rather than quoting a number here that would be wrong for your site.
Temporary rides arrive from several contractors, to several standards, on several schedules. The work is sequencing: documentation checked in transit, each device verified as it is assembled, weather limits written down before the first queue forms. A final sweep the day before opening is there so that the last finding is closed before the gates open, not discovered on opening night.
The rides were installed by a tenant who has since left, the design file went with them, and the landlord now wants a certificate. We establish what can be evidenced, what must be re-established by examination or measurement, and what has to be replaced, in that order.
Fatigue, Gulf summers and ten thousand cycles a season change what an examiner looks for and how often. Intervals copied unchanged from a European manual are a number with no basis here; we set them from the device, its duty cycle and the Abu Dhabi climate it runs in.
Certis coordinated technical assurance across the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Abu Dhabi, supporting the safe delivery of rides, attractions and live entertainment throughout the season: ride inspection coordination, risk assessment and compliance verification, and technical support to every stakeholder on the ground. In Al Ain, Certis has delivered independent examination for Modon Holding at Al Ain Adventure. Snow Abu Dhabi is among the names on our case studies page. The full list of operators we work with across the UAE is there too.
Our office and engineering team are in Dubai Investment Park, on the Abu Dhabi side of Dubai, and we do not claim a local office in the capital. Our engineers travel to your site for the examination itself, with the documentation reviewed beforehand so the visit is spent on the ride, not on the paperwork.
The list of devices with their manufacturer and year, the standard or design file they were built to if you have it, the last inspection report, and the date you are working towards. From that we scope the examination, give you a first technical answer within one business day and a written proposal with the timeline.
Yes. Seasonal and travelling rides are examined in stages as each device is assembled, with the documentation checked while the equipment is still in transit, so the last finding does not land on opening night. This is how we supported the Sheikh Zayed Festival.
